| Half Man, Half Pig, Half Bear. Al Gore came to South Park to warn the residents about the impending threat of this creature. The episode also returned South Park to it's winning formula of focusing on the boys adventures as a group. I particularly enjoyed Cartman stuffing himself full of treasure in an effort ot keep it all to himself. In the end crapping it all out and then finding out that it was fake treasure. For a more detailed summary of the episode go here. Overall it was a pretty good episode, I think Trey and Matt have made it abundantly clear that they don't care for the whole global warming alarm that is going off as a result of the record breaking Hurricanes this year and other weather abnormalities. I'm not sure where they really fall on the issue, I am leaning towards the opinion that they believe in global warming but that there is really nothing we can do about it. While I disagree with their position for the long term, in the short term there really isn't much we can do to affect what meteoroligical events might happen. Here's hoping they take aim at the greedy oil companies or the global warming deniers in the future. I am more hopeful that they will take aim at the former, than the latter. They tend to go against the grain, and being out on the west coast, I am sure they are inundated by the environmental groups. |

i agree that the episode was hilarious, but if you think the oil companies are greedy then you, my friend are delusional. so what, a company is making a lot of money. the oil industry is not only razor thin, but demand has increased due to more consumption globally! were you whining when oil was $10 and the companies were losing money? what about the fact that the guys who ran those oil companies who had to risk billions to invest in refineries, rigs, etc? why don't you go live in a country where they penalize you for getting a better paycheck? oh, that's right, you don't. or at least for now, unless we become a socialist welfare state like europe, and look how they are turning out...
Ummm do you work for the oil industry. I have no problem with them making the most of their investments if they were investing their own money. The oil industry profits from both sides, if they return all the money they get from government subsidies then I have no problem with them reaping a profit.

Yes, it clearly is the oil companies that are the greedy ones in the equation. Afterall, with gas prices at $3.00+, the oil companies rake in about 9 cents per gallon in profit. The federal government only makes 18 cents per gallon in tax- and they didn't even have to invest in constructing the infrastructure, pumping, transporting, refining the oil, etc.
So, basically, the government makes double what the oil companies take in per gallon, and as far as the feds are concerned, its "free" money.

If the oil companies only make 9 cents per gallon of profit explain the billions and billions of dollars in record profits they are reaping now.
They are using a natural resource that is owned not by them but by the general population so it should be taxed.
Finally their investments are risk free as they are subsidized by the government, and when they don't strike any oil they are allowed to write it off and exploit the tax benefits.
With the ease in which the oil and energy companies make money, it is a greater indictment of our president's business aptitude since he could not even figure out how to turn a profit in the oil business.

Just let me ask you one thing, do you think it's a coincidence that when Bush and Cheney two oil men run our country, starting wars that they say will ease gas prices, don't actually ease gas prices but we see record gas prices. They knew what they were doing and they let manbearpig drive up prices so the oil companies could cash out before we are out of oil.
They did all this instead of investing more money into alternative energy sources, instead of invading Iraq we could of used that money to find something else to run our cars. Manbearpig is just pulling the strings behind the Bush administration.

Original, but taught not that relevant lessons of morality, such as loving your family and siblings and friends. They arent afraid to say one thing that might offend people, such as the Golden PSP episode towards the Teri Shaivo story. I, and many of the less agenda pushing scientists that study the issue of historical climate changes, would argue that it's conceivable and likely that the Earth goes thru warming and cooling cycles all the time without the aid of fossil fuel emissions. People that believe humans are so powerful that they can inadvertly affect the global climate are arrogant. Nature is NOT fragile and will likely cause the extinction of the human race, without any help from big oil or greedy and heartless corporations.

It's hard to convince someone to pay credence to your argument when simple grammar eludes you.
The manbearpig episode was funny becuase the amount of evidence that manbearpig exists is the same as the evidence that proves global warming is in anyway caused by human action. The show was obviously making fun of Al Gore AND the people who run around claiming that we make global warming worse(as if they have any real evidence to back it up).
The arguments against global warming are not done by credible scientists. Most of the research done that refutes global warming has been paid for by the oil and automobile industries, which would both use billions of dollars if we switched to a different power source for our vehicles. Also south park references and curses do not make a very persuasive or intelligent sounding argument.
