Half Man, Half Pig, Half Bear. Al Gore came to South Park to warn the residents about the impending threat of this creature. The episode also returned South Park to it's winning formula of focusing on the boys adventures as a group. I particularly enjoyed Cartman stuffing himself full of treasure in an effort ot keep it all to himself. In the end crapping it all out and then finding out that it was fake treasure. For a more detailed summary of the episode go here.

Overall it was a pretty good episode, I think Trey and Matt have made it abundantly clear that they don't care for the whole global warming alarm that is going off as a result of the record breaking Hurricanes this year and other weather abnormalities. I'm not sure where they really fall on the issue, I am leaning towards the opinion that they believe in global warming but that there is really nothing we can do about it. While I disagree with their position for the long term, in the short term there really isn't much we can do to affect what meteoroligical events might happen.

Here's hoping they take aim at the greedy oil companies or the global warming deniers in the future. I am more hopeful that they will take aim at the former, than the latter. They tend to go against the grain, and being out on the west coast, I am sure they are inundated by the environmental groups.

I think they were satirizing more Al Gore's use of the global warming issue to stay in the spotlight. Not global warming itself.

Why are there no screen stills of this episode online?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:53 AM) :

i agree that the episode was hilarious, but if you think the oil companies are greedy then you, my friend are delusional. so what, a company is making a lot of money. the oil industry is not only razor thin, but demand has increased due to more consumption globally! were you whining when oil was $10 and the companies were losing money? what about the fact that the guys who ran those oil companies who had to risk billions to invest in refineries, rigs, etc? why don't you go live in a country where they penalize you for getting a better paycheck? oh, that's right, you don't. or at least for now, unless we become a socialist welfare state like europe, and look how they are turning out...

Blogger iwuwill said ... (9:48 AM) :

Ummm do you work for the oil industry. I have no problem with them making the most of their investments if they were investing their own money. The oil industry profits from both sides, if they return all the money they get from government subsidies then I have no problem with them reaping a profit.

Anyone find a picture of Manbearpig online?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:15 PM) :

Yes, it clearly is the oil companies that are the greedy ones in the equation. Afterall, with gas prices at $3.00+, the oil companies rake in about 9 cents per gallon in profit. The federal government only makes 18 cents per gallon in tax- and they didn't even have to invest in constructing the infrastructure, pumping, transporting, refining the oil, etc.

So, basically, the government makes double what the oil companies take in per gallon, and as far as the feds are concerned, its "free" money.

I'm super duper cereal manbearpig is real the only way to kill him is to fill the cave with hot moltin lead

Blogger iwuwill said ... (6:27 PM) :

If the oil companies only make 9 cents per gallon of profit explain the billions and billions of dollars in record profits they are reaping now.

They are using a natural resource that is owned not by them but by the general population so it should be taxed.

Finally their investments are risk free as they are subsidized by the government, and when they don't strike any oil they are allowed to write it off and exploit the tax benefits.

With the ease in which the oil and energy companies make money, it is a greater indictment of our president's business aptitude since he could not even figure out how to turn a profit in the oil business.

How about losing the anonymous tag and identifying yourself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:16 AM) :

how bout yall both shut up? who gives a shit who causes global warming? our president aint helping "his friends in the oil company". consider the gas companies that are joining together, letting one company by them and have them be owned together. oil is becoming a monopoly because competition is dying in between each stations. these merging companies eliminate all competition in prices, so they can set the price to whatever they please because in truth, we need it to survive. simple econimics. and yeah, hurricane katrina did start all this high price shit, but hey, shit happens. global warming does exist, but the day after tommorow shit isnt gonna happen for a long...long time. so shut up and beware of manbearpig...he'll gitcha

Blogger iwuwill said ... (9:10 AM) :

Just let me ask you one thing, do you think it's a coincidence that when Bush and Cheney two oil men run our country, starting wars that they say will ease gas prices, don't actually ease gas prices but we see record gas prices. They knew what they were doing and they let manbearpig drive up prices so the oil companies could cash out before we are out of oil.

They did all this instead of investing more money into alternative energy sources, instead of invading Iraq we could of used that money to find something else to run our cars. Manbearpig is just pulling the strings behind the Bush administration.

....that made no sense whatsoever. yeah, we see record prices right now, but it could be worse. recall in the 70's when we were in the gas shortage because the middleeast got pissed at us...theyre not that mad if they havent done that yet. what the first kid said, about Gore's speech on global warming, he just did that to stay in the spotlight, and he was hoping people would be listening...such as manbearpig with the kids. now shut up...stop arguing, and stop being such a democrat.

Blogger iwuwill said ... (8:18 AM) :

Are you serious? Do you understand how to construct a coherent argument? Personal attacks and saying some kid is right because he said what you believe is not a valid point.

What evidence do you offer that Gore is doing this just to stay in the spotlight? Do you know anything of his career? Environmental issues have been a conviction of his, one that he has not abandoned since he began his public service career.

By the way grow up.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 PM) : shit he's been a hippe since he started his political career. but blowing up about the issue of global warming saying that if we keep it up, we'll all be doomed? give me a fuckin break. hes tryin to stay in the spotlight, just like trey parker and matt stone put it in the episode, hoping people would know him by his arguments on "manbearpig" AKA GLOBAL WARMING! and by the way idiot, just by agreeing with some kids opinion doesnt mean im trying to state a point, im just saying ur an idiot for your argument on gas prices is the most retarded thing ive ever heard in my life. fudge you, go fudge yourself and get the fudge out

i think these south park episodes are getting dumber by the day. the older episodes used to be funny, original. now matt and trey have sold us out, leaving the "hard work" to the rest of the comedy central company, while they sit on their asses in tiawana sipping on a pina coloda. Fuck matt and trey.fuck them in their stupid asses

Anonymous Ben said ... (7:31 PM) :

manbearpig is so cereal but i cant find a picture of it

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:35 PM) :

if you REALLY mean that comment about south park getting dumber and dumber...youre a fucking idiot. South Park doesnt earn the peabody award 2 years in a row for being the dumbest television show on the network. Sure, the old episodes were original. Original, but taught not that relevant lessons of morality, such as loving your family and siblings and friends. But these new episodes are fucking golden, and if you dont think so, well, i guess you can suck my tiny balls. They arent afraid to say one thing that might offend people, such as the Golden PSP episode towards the Teri Shaivo story. If you ask me, its pretty genius they take stories that are totally blown out of proportion on the media, and totally make fun of it. You have a lot of growing up to do, buddy. Suck my balls. And as for Trey Parker and Matt Stone "selling out", they havent sold out one bit. They still make people laugh incredibly hard. And sure, they sip on Pina Coladas in Exotic Resorts because hey, they have the money, unlike you. Prick.

AMEN!!! The masses are so gullible. Early human remains are usually found in deserts that used to be forests. Maybe they turned to deserts because of all the fossil fuel emissions of early humans. They were so blind. *shakes head in disgust of early humans disregard for OUR planet*

I, and many of the less agenda pushing scientists that study the issue of historical climate changes, would argue that it's conceivable and likely that the Earth goes thru warming and cooling cycles all the time without the aid of fossil fuel emissions. People that believe humans are so powerful that they can inadvertly affect the global climate are arrogant. Nature is NOT fragile and will likely cause the extinction of the human race, without any help from big oil or greedy and heartless corporations.

It's Could HAVE... COULD HAVE!!! AARRRGGHHH!!! *Puts head through wall*

It's hard to convince someone to pay credence to your argument when simple grammar eludes you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

The manbearpig episode was funny becuase the amount of evidence that manbearpig exists is the same as the evidence that proves global warming is in anyway caused by human action. The show was obviously making fun of Al Gore AND the people who run around claiming that we make global warming worse(as if they have any real evidence to back it up).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 PM) :

The arguments against global warming are not done by credible scientists. Most of the research done that refutes global warming has been paid for by the oil and automobile industries, which would both use billions of dollars if we switched to a different power source for our vehicles. Also south park references and curses do not make a very persuasive or intelligent sounding argument.
